About
Hello!

My name is Chelsea Butler, and I am a Registered Social Worker in Ontario and Alberta. I have 10 years of experience providing counselling to people who are impacted by chronic illness, or cancer, and caregivers providing care for a loved one, including children, who are experiencing an illness or disease. I also have extensive experience providing support to professionals who provide care to folks who are experiencing illness and disease. I spent several years providing counselling to parents who have varying concerns regarding parenting and caring for children who have unique needs.
I approach each client with a trauma-informed and person-centered lens. Each client is an expert in their situation, feelings, and experiences. I have a large toolbox of resources and tools that can provide coping strategies to navigate the challenges people face. When we put your expertise and my tools and resources together, guidance toward a path of transformation may happen! I value connection, authenticity, transparency, compassion, inclusivity, curiosity, and collaboration. These are the values that are important in forming a trusting therapeutic relationship.
A passion of mine is advocacy as it relates to pursuing equitable access to healthcare and navigating the healthcare system. I enjoy teaching advocacy skills to people so that they can also advocate for themselves. We know that things like gender, sexuality, race, culture, location, income, and many other factors can be barriers to accessing quality and quantity of health care. I work individually and collaboratively with clients and other professionals to break these barriers to achieve health equity.
